I send greetings and Hopes that you continue to remain strong. A deep sadness overcomes me when I think that more than 5000 people have died ONLY because they were Americans or were visiting America. New York City has been and will continue to be the Greatest City in the World.

September 11th happened unexpectedly hitting hard. Before that day probably no one ever thought such terror could exist and that it could be accomplished so easily. For most it was just a day on which something major had happened; for the rest it was a tragedy of unspeakable proportions.

It began as a normal day; people went to work, schools, some were leaving the work. Then a roar of a Boeing plane sounded over the heads of Manhattan residents and a loud thunder of it slamming into tower 1 around 8:46am...more
On September 11, 2001 the unthinkable happened. Unfortunately, we have been directly affected by the tragedy. We worked at WTC 1 on 46 floor, and our equipment (digital camera, lenses, batteries, etc.) were usually kept there, as well as original photos of the NYCfoto images. Everything has been lost on that terrible day. Of course, it is nothing in comparison to the lost lives, but still sad. NYCfoto.com has been hosted in Texas at that time, so we didn't loose anything that was stored there. We also had most of the original photos backed up at other locations, some of the galleries (only photos at high resolution) have been lost... more
